Birth of the Goddess of Mercy

On Lunar Calendar 19th day of 2nd month (26th March 2008), Thian Hock Keng celebrated the birth of the Goddess of Mercy(Guan Shi Yin Pu Sa). Offerings such as lotus candles, fagao, shoutao and mianxian were prepared for prayers during the ceremony in the morning.

Local Chinese musical group Siong Leng Musical Association, was invited to perform traditional music ‘Nan Yin’. The performance attracted an audience of about 300 who found themselves immersed in classic Nan Yin music with the courtyard of the 168 years old temple.
